Or delay the cumbia and throw in another Merengue or a high intensity song and do the cumbia song after. Then tone it down to a salsa for the next song, then a reggueton, then a cumbia. That kind of song could be a Fast Merengue song like (Firehouse, or Rututu(by Watatah) or Like So). Then you throw in your high intensity song while your participants got that energy to do it. I usually do two warmups, and the second warmup song is more intense than the first. People generally have more energy at the top of the class. How I like to do it is vary the songs by intensity. But because I am a cultural person I love to include, African, Dancehall, Soca, Dembow, Bollywood and Bellydance. I believe that every Zumba Fitness class should contain all four rhythms from B1 so that your participants get their fix.especially a Salsa. I personally think I usually hit 12 songs per class. I know an instructor who has 15 or 16 songs per class with no breaks. Kill them with kindness and kill them with your intensity. So that would be my personal advice to you in order to be successful in this kraft. Participants rarely ever complain about an instructor for who can make them really sweat and get a really kick ass workout. For example, they'll talk about how this instructor is low intensity but that they like the one who is the highest intensity or vice versa. I like to use a song with a positive message) Latino pop OR mambo OR American pop (lower)Ĭooldown (this can be bachata, chachacha, tango, kizomba, easy bellydance, pop-any easy song with large ROM) Warmup1 (any positive song that feels like there's a party gone on here!) Anyway, I always use this very rough guide for ZFitness: I am lucky in that I am usually able to gauge the peeps as to what they might like, and I would occasionally switch a song or 2 before class, lol. Even within these formats I had a backup playlist for subbing classes. I used to teach ZGold, ZFitness, and AqZumba, so I had multiple playlists. The rest are warmup 1, warmup 2, warmup 3 (which I usually use a pop/hiphop song), cool down song, and stretch song. I make sure I have a variety of intervals, and at least 2 sets of the * 4 rhythms from B1, since they are the foundation of the class.

For a 55-60min class, that would be about 15-16 songs.
